Influence of bulk electronic structure on grain boundary properties in perovskite oxides (B04)

Subject Area Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 463184206

Project Description

Project B04 examines the segregation of defects and variable valence, transition-metal dopants to GBs and the accumulation/depletion of these defects in the attendant space-charge layers. A particular focus is the impact of segregation and accumulation/depletion on microstructure evolution (solute drag) and electrical properties. Here, B04 depends on the input from other experimental projects and provides reference data for theory projects. In addition, the project provides high-quality ceramic and bicrystal samples of doped BaTiO3 to different analytical projects and thus, guarantees comparability of results obtained from various methods.
