Charge transition levels and Fermi energy limits in functional oxides (A07)

Subject Area Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 463184206

Project Description

Project A07 uses X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) with in situ sample treatments to determine the energy band alignment and the defect energy levels in the materials synthesized in the CRC. The limits of the Fermi energy and their modification are derived by comparing doped and undoped materials treated with different oxidizing and reducing conditions as well as by in situ electrochemical polarization experiments. In addition, thin films of AFeO3−x (A = Ba, Sr, Ca) are prepared by magnetron sputtering for studying the influence of the A-site cation on the charge transition level of Fe.
