Project Details
High Performance Compute-Cluster
Term
Funded in 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 512778292
The device applied for is a compute cluster supported by a Linux operating system for high performance computing (HPC) focusing on scientific and technical applications. The compute components are based on distributed memory technology and x86-compatible processors. In addition to standard compute nodes, nodes with accelerator cards (GPUs) are also used to a large extent here, since GPU support has now found its way into many scientific software packages. Furthermore, the increasingly important research area of machine learning requires the use of powerful multi-GPU nodes. The compute cluster also includes disk storage with a parallel file system. The compute and storage components are connected by a high-performance network. In addition, the turnkey compute cluster includes heavy-duty server cabinets, cooling equipment and software. The LiDO4 compute cluster to be procured is a replacement procurement for the existing LiDO3 compute cluster.
