In this subproject, the mechanisms of action of selected flame retardants in an unsaturated polyester resin matrix are investigated, which have been insufficiently researched so far, especially with regard to the interaction between flame and flame retardant. The scientific knowledge gained will accelerate the development of future formulations for the efficient use of flame retardants and will support a scientific evaluation regarding the effectiveness and mechanism of action of flame retardant polymers.
