Experimental investigation of boundary layer flames and their influence by flame retardants (C06*)

Subject Area Mechanical Process Engineering
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 237267381

Project Description

The aim of the subproject is to better understand thermochemical states and fluid dynamic processes of partially premixed boundary layer flames and their influence by phosphorus-based flame retardants, to contribute to the development of mathematical models and to provide extensive experimental data for the vali-dation of numerical simulations. This includes the investigation of near-wall transport processes that influence the pyrolysis of a polymer and the ignition of a partially premixed boundary layer flame, and the analysis of how partially premixed boundary layer flames are changed by gas-phase active flame retardants.
