Project Details
Cryo-cooled microstructure systems (A05)
Subject Area
Microsystems
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 454252029
Temperatures in the range of 80 K (150 K) to about 2 K open new opportunities for measurement and process technology. At these low temperatures, thermal noise of sensors or samples to be measured becomes almost negligible. The sensitivity of sensors based on thermodynamic princi-ples is raised drastically. Extremely exothermic processes become available to in-situ and operan-do analysis, and characteristics of materials change strongly. The project aims to generate minia-turized equipment to provide the cooling power needed to reach such low temperatures for new magnetic material samples, NMR hyphenation as well as high performance magnets and sensors.
