Metabolic control of the epigenetic landscape (C08*)

Dynamics in the epigenetic landscape fully rely on the availability metabolites that serve as co-substrates for epigenetic enzymes. In our proposed project, we want to do a comprehensive multi-omics based analysis of the metabolic-epigenetic interplay in haematopoietic and leukemic cells. The haematopoietic system serves as an ideal model to study the metabolic-epigenetic interplay as differentiation from haematopoietic stem cells to mature and functional blood cells, which is accompanied by drastic epigenetic changes, happens throughout lifespan and failures to establish the correct epigenetic pattern can result in formation of leukemic cells at any step of the process.
