Analysis of epigenetic modifications in micro RNAs (B09*)

Subject Area Biochemistry
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 325871075

Project Description

Micro RNAs (miRs) play an essential role as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression and their aberrant abundance as well as epigenetic modifications can be linked with disease phenotypes such as cancer. However, to date the correlation of the chemical modifications of miRs and their function is not well understood. Within the here proposed project we want to analyze the modification landscape of precursor and mature miRs using mass spectrometry, in combination with third generation sequencing to gain insight into the epitranscriptome and its function of miRs.
