Material-Based Process Design for 5-Axis Milling of Complex Capital Goods (T20#)

Subject Area Metal-Cutting and Abrasive Manufacturing Engineering
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 119193472

Project Description

The aim of the transfer project is the availability of a material- and tool-related process planning for free-form surfaces when using complex milling tool geometries in relation to components with very high requirements for surface quality. In cooperation with FRANKEN GmbH and OPEN MIND Technologies, the process design is being extended for the first time to include the effects of burr formation and other material effects during machining. In this way, the findings on surface generation obtained in subproject C1 are used for process planning and transferred into industry.
