Consideration of Regeneration-Induced Aeroelastic Changes in Jet Engine Turbines During the Design Process (T08#)

Subject Area Hydraulic and Turbo Engines and Piston Engines
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 119193472

Project Description

The aim of this transfer project is the modelling of cooling air and radial gap influences on aeroelasticity in axial turbines. An experimental setup will be designed, which allows a precise distinction between impulse- and density-induced blade excitation under consideration of geometries close to the engine. Different radial gaps and their influences on the unsteady pressure distribution on a downstream stator finalize the objective. Finally, the developed and validated models are transferred to real aero engines to prove their applicability in the design process.
