Non-Equilibrium Dynamics of Tunnel Junctions (A08)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278162697

Project Description

The project investigates the dynamics of phonons, excitons, and spins at the nanoscale using low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy with appropriate time resolution. Transmission and reflection of acoustic waves as well as excitonic excitations will be studied at various interface systems. The emphasis will be on the relation of the excitation mechanism and the dynamics. Moreover, switching dynamics of nano-systems such as large adsorbed molecules and dimers on semiconducting surfaces will be studied by such local time-resolved probes.
