High- and low-temperatur IR/UV/Vis-Spectrometer

Subject Area Chemical Solid State and Surface Research
Term Funded in 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 502174197

The requested device is a spectrometer for the collection of temperature-dependent data in the far infrared (FIR), mid-infrared (MIR), near infrared (NIR), as well as in the ultraviolet (UV) and visible range (Vis). The high-resolution Fourier transform (FT) spectrometer is equipped with the necessary beam splitters and detectors for the different spectral ranges, which can be brought into the beam path by computer control. The new spectrometer is intended to replace an existing device, which was manufactured in 1980 and can increasingly only be used to a limited extent, as necessary spare parts can no longer be procured. In addition, the spectrometer to be procured is intended to expand the usable temperature range and thus complement the investigation possibilities within the material analytical device center of the University of Bremen in a compatible way. The spectral ranges FIR, MIR and NIR can be operated in the temperature range from 10 K to 300 K by means of a new He-Closed-Cycle system and from approx. 100 K to 870 K with a temperature cell. A heated reflection unit is to be procured for measurements in UV/Vis.
