Project Details
Lifetime prediction of nozzle structures under streaming conditions (D03)
Subject Area
Mechanics
Term
from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26293245
SP D3 develops simulation tools involving fluid-structure interaction (FSI), damage and failure for reliable lifetime predictions of rocket engine nozzle structures. Besides the modelling of typical rocket engines made of metallic alloys, nozzle structures made of the ceramic matrix composite material C/C-SiC are sub-ject of the investigations. The main task of the third funding period is the extension of the damage model for C/C-SiC including parameter identification. The FSI related research focuses on the further acceleration and the inclusion of new models into the FSI simulation environment. Finally, the developed simulation tools are validated on the basis of the sub-scale experiments of SP D9.
