Dating of low-grade high-pressure Metamorphism in the Afyon Zone; W-Anatolia
Final Report Abstract
The present DFG project, focus on structural, petrologic and geochronologic investigations of HP meta-sedimentary rocks from Western–Central Anatolia, led to major achievements of larger extent than regional tectonic considerations, such as: • linking geochronology and thermobarometric calculations to determine the timing of accurate metamorphic stages, • evaluating thermodynamic equilibrium among HP metamorphic phases, • calculating petrogenetic grids (for low-grade HP metapelites) that verify stringent natural and experiment constraints and can be used to interpret textural and chemical observations in terms of changes in metamorphic conditions, • refining the tectonic architecture of Western–Central Anatolia, • re-evaluating the Neo-Tethyan palaeo-geography of the region, and • reconstructing the geodynamic evolution of the long-lived east-Mediterranean subduction system.
