Project Description

The relationship between systemic leukocytosis and heart failure progression is well documented; however, the underlying mechanisms are still unknown. Preliminary data reveal that bone marrow (BM) angiogenesis post myocardial infarction (MI) is a critical driver of enhanced myelopoiesis. Advanced in vivo and ex vivo/in vitro imaging of murine bone marrow will help elucidate the underlying mechanisms of BM remodelling and its impact on haematopoiesis in chronic heart failure.
