Interactions of endothelium and adipocytes during thermogenic adaptation (P06)

Subject Area Pharmacology
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 450149205

Project Description

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is highly vascularized. Changes in BAT functional states also stimulate the adaptation of the BAT vascular network. This suggests that there is a crosstalk between adipocytes and endothelial cells (ECs). So far, this is only poorly understood and the existing studies focus on angiogenesis in BAT, while this project specifically aims to identify auto/paracrine factors that regulate to the interplay of ECs and how ECs adapt to the energetic needs of BAT.
