The research project’s main objective is to provide conceptual clarification for and to critically analyse progressive and regressive artistic interventions in the field of contemporary political movements. In doing so, it aims to distinguish prominent logics of artistic intervention such as visualisation and prefiguration. Moreover, it examines the various political codings of these logics – e.g., the (digital) prefiguration of community – and the reversal of seemingly emancipatory and contemplative aesthetic forms and practices into repressive and regressive ones.
