Since the 1960s, contemporary art in Europe, the US, and South America has been involved with the intervening character of artistically actualized forms of assembly. Based on exemplary film screenings, projects in public spaces, and expanded exhibition formats which offer up aesthetic opportunities for participation and community building, the research project examines how contemporary art reconfigures dominant protocols of inclusion and exclusion by interfering in spatial, institutional, and social conventions and norms.
