Magnetic fields, cosmic rays, and outflows in dwarf galaxies (A02)

Subject Area Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 445052434

Using nearby dwarf galaxies, the different subclasses - luminous and faint dwarfs - are studied with a combined approach of observations and theoretical modeling. The goal is to provide constraints on high-energy astrophysical scenarios in elliptical/spheroidal galaxies, as well as to test diffusion models for different turbulence scenarios. Finally, the astrophysical background for dark-matter searches from the low-luminosity dwarf galaxies can be quantified, providing important preliminary work for the first detection of a possible dark-matter signal in such galaxies.
