Project Details
Sensitive road surface layer: Detection of wheel loads with high temporal and spatial resolution (A03)
Subject Area
Construction Material Sciences, Chemistry, Building Physics
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 453596084
In TP A03, a sensitive road surface layer using piezoresistive materials is developed. Through a situational measurement of the electrical resistance of the individual partitions of the sensitive road surface layer, load positions and load sizes of vehicles (tires) and condition data can be recorded. The material design of the sensitive road surface layer is investigated by experimental tests and numerical methods. The communication and data transmission paths to the surrounding infrastructure are investigated as well. This sensitive road surface layer is applied to asphalt and concrete pavements and is an essential element of the digital twin of the road system aspired by SFB/TRR 339.
