In this project, we aim at exploiting highly efficient quasi-bound states in the continuum for optical modes in GaAs nanoresonators. The strong field confinement of these modes will be utilized to tailor the phase and emission patterns of light generated by nonlinear optical processes and to increase the efficiency of light-matter interaction in novel nonlinear optoelectronic devices. By using GaAs as material, we will make use of a strong second-order effect to target efficient harmonic generation and nonlinear holography even at lower power levels. Such a system would be of particular interest for optical security applications and nonlinear flat optical beam shaping elements.
