Polaron signatures in the optical response of lithium niobate (B07*)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2022 to 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 231447078

Project Description

This joint theory-experiment project will explore the rich physics of polarons and their optical signatures. In particular, we plan to resolve their influence on the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the material as well as their condensation, hopping and dissociation characteristics in interaction with intrinsic and extrinsic point defects within the crystal. We focus on stoichiometric, congruent and differently doped lithium niobate. Our project shall contribute to a thorough understanding of polarons and the knowledge-driven optimization of the materials properties.
