Requested is a uHPLC coupled to a mass spectrometer for high-throughput chromatographic screening of organic molecules and, in some cases, small peptides. The uHPLC system for rapid chromatographic separation is of key importance here. In particular, the uHPLC system shall be equipped with a multisampler that can apply samples very rapidly (<10s cycle time) from microtiter plates and enables analysis at very high pressure (>1000 bar). The mass spectrometer shall be equipped with electrospray ionization as ion source and single quadrupole as analyzer. In order to determine low concentrations of analytes in a high throughput, mass-selective, chromatographic manner, the LC/MS system is optimized for short cycle times, high sensitivity, large number of samples and high pressure. Given a positive response for this proposal, the LC/MS system will enable a variety of research projects at Bielefeld University. Scientifically, we aim to develop i) new methods in organic synthesis, ii) new non-natural enzyme functions, as well as new enzyme engineering methods.
