Project Details
Control and Activity of the Streptomyces Spore Wall Synthesizing Complex (SSSC) (A02)
Subject Area
Parasitology and Biology of Tropical Infectious Disease Pathogens
Term
from 2007 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 32152271
During the life cycle of antibiotic producing streptomycetes the hyphae are septated into chains of more than 50 spores in a highly synchronized manner. The Streptomyces spore wall synthesizing complex SSSC, which resembles the elongasome of rod-shaped bacteria has a key role in this process. We want to elucidate how the Streptomyces spore wall synthesizing complex SSSC achieves the synthesis of peptidoglycan and anionic glycopolymers and how protein phosphorylation controls the coordination of the SSSCs.
