Project Description

During the 17th and 18th century, even Jesuits from German-speaking countries were involved, as „cross-border commuters“ in the periphery of the Spanish colonial empire, in a multitude of cultural translation services in the Paraguayan missionary territory. Besides independent forms of an accommodated Christianity, developments occurred in transcultural forms of economies, political administration of settlements, music and arts, philology as well as craftsmanship, pharmacy, botany and many more. The purpose of the network is an interdisciplinary research on the aforementioned topics and the vast transcontinental transfer of knowledge.
