The chip formation mechanisms during grinding determine the energy conversion and the process forces. The occurrence of these mechanisms depends primarily on the topography engagement conditions. Due to the large number of simultaneous and separate engagements, the chip formation mechanisms have not been fundamentally researched yet. Therefore, the aim of the applied project is the characterization of the energy conversion and the process forces depending on the topography with the aid of the effective chip formation mechanisms during grinding. This is based on the method of the process interruption for the analysis of the chip formation zone.
