In Project C06, a specific case of sociotechnical assistance is considered in which an expert is supported by machine learning output that enables her/him to gain a better grasp of a speech signal, thereby making it more interpretable. The project further examines how this output can be used by expert phoneticians to share their knowledge on a phenomenon with a novice via an explanation. It contributes to understanding the dynamics of the explanandum and explanans by modeling the explanans as a time series that is adapted in response to feedback by both a phonetician and a novice user.
