From the start, Project A05 is concerned with human–machine interaction and will analyze how to guide the attention in the process of explaining. The goal of the experimental studies is to understand whether particular ways of guiding attention on the microlevel and task level of interaction result in different attentional parameters in humans and can therefore be fed back into a robot’s behavior, thereby enabling scaffolding and monitoring. The investigations on the task level address the history of interaction that is a prerequisite for a social practice to emerge. With this aspect, the project therefore links up with the Reserach Area B.
