Light-Matter Interaction at Interfaces of Quantum Materials (B09*)
Subject Area

This project aims at gaining microscopic insights into light-matter interaction at interfaces of quantum materials. We focus on moiré-exciton features in twisted homo- and hetero-bilayers of transition metal dichalcogenides exhibiting atomically sharp and nearly defect-free interfaces. Using sophisticated many-particle models based on density-matrix formalism and exploiting the twist angle as a new degree of freedom, we investigate the possibility of tailoring exciton optics and spatiotemporal dynamics of moiré-excitons in these fundamentally interesting and technologically promising nanomaterials.
