Project Description

This project aims at realising well-defined interfaces in two-dimensional (2D) materials and heterostructures using metal organic chemical vapour deposition. Various 2D model material systems are chosen according to the interest of the partner projects in this SFB. The dependence of the growth characteristics on growth parameters, but also on the substrate structure (crystalline versus amorphous, steps) will be elaborated with the aim of controlling the growth of large 2D films. Fundamental investigations of the gas phase as well as of the surfaces will help to understand the reaction kinetics and thermodynamics of the growth.
