Wnt pathway specificity in niche – stem cell control (A08*)

Subject Area Developmental Biology
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 331351713

Wnt signaling is critical for stem cell development and homeostasis. However, it is still underexplored how Wnt pathways control different stem cell populations within one tissue in a cell-type specific manner. We will study two stem cell niches in Drosophila to elucidate context-dependent Wnt input and output codes influenced by cross-talk with other signaling pathways at the single cell level. Comparison and functional analysis of the Wnt code will be instrumental in understanding the basic principles as well as the particularities of Wnt encoded specificity in different stem cell types.
