Project Details
Porous Material for Increasing the Energy Density of Gas Accumulators (T12#)
Subject Area
Engineering Design, Machine Elements, Product Development
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 57157498
Gas springs in the form of air springs and hydraulic accumulators are used in mobile NVH-applications. In order to save weight and reduce packaging, the aim of this new transfer project is to increase the energy density of the aforementioned gas accumulators. For this purpose, effects are used that act within the gas spring in a gas-solid system: (i) mass adsorption and (ii) heat absorption. In the project, the experimental and analytical results from project C9 from the current funding period are to be transferred to industry. To this end, an optimal material that combines the two effects of gas adsorption and heat absorption is to be found and tested for the two applications mentioned.
