Project Details
Metabolic reprogramming to optimize the cellular fitness and function of engineered T cells (C05)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 452881907
Immune cell activation and functional properties are inherently connected to changes in their metabolism. Thus, understanding and engineering metabolic pathways and checkpoints in lymphocytes represent a promising strategy to augment and optimize immune cell function for therapeutic purposes. In this project, we aim to define the regulatory circuits of (selected) nutrient transporters and how modulation of those impact nutrient uptake, energy flux and cellular metabolism as well as gene expression programs in T cells on a phenotypic and functional level to finally exploit these pathways for augmented efficacy of adoptive T cell therapies.
