Project Details
Development of an acoustic measurement methodology for the determination of microstructural damage (T12#)
Subject Area
Thermodynamics and Kinetics as well as Properties of Phases and Microstructure of Materials
Term
from 2021 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 68237143
In order to be able to locally and non-destructively detect the ductile damage in the form of pores in the microstructure caused by sheet bulk metal forming processes, new testing methods will be developed in this transfer project. For this purpose, ultrasonic measurements will be carried out on material states with known ductile damage quantified by scanning electron microscopy. The measurement results will be assigned to the defects in the microstructure. Finally, the knowledge gained will be transferred to an extended measuring technique such as the phased-array technique in order to reduce measuring times and at the same time to be able to analyze components with complicated geometries.
