Term
since 2021
Project identifier

The therapeutic success of electric stimulation relies on well-defined fields generated in tissue or bone. The desired stimulation signal is altered by the active and passive components of the electrically active implant. The project aims to quantify these alterations by developing deterministic and probabilistic models of the implant system. Furthermore, methods for monitoring loosening and periprosthetic bone quality of hip-stem replacement systems are devised. Analysis of structure-borne sound in the implant and electrical impedance tomography in conjunction deep learning techniques are considered for this purpose. In order to further advance the monitoring of implants, the application of in situ structural health monitoring techniques is investigated.
