In summary we propose exploratory chemistry of Mo and W fluorides and their related compounds. Major goals are the synthesis of novel inorganic compounds or complexes of Mo and W fluorides, nitride fluorides, and oxyfluorides. Hydrolysis and ammonolysis reactions of these are to be investigated in anhydrous HF, ammonia and sulfur dioxide, as well as their Lewis acid-base reactions with azides, cyanides, thiocyanates and amides. Thermal decomposition studies will show if other nitrides, oxynitrides, carbonitrides, …, can be obtained.
