Meyer will concentrate on deconvolving the functions of the VCP/p97 ATPase and its many cofactors proteins in DNA damage responses. He will use a systematic combination of mass spectrometry, PROTAC-induced protein degradation and cell-free reconstitution approaches. The aim is to identify targets and dissect the exact role of p97-cofactor complexes and its dis-tinct components in alternative DNA damage repair pathways, and then explore the relevance for genomic stability and survival in cancer cell models.
