A new class of predicted p-type TCOs shall be experimentally realized. Transparent oxide p-type semiconductor thin films shall be fabricated in tin(II) compounds, namely tin phosphates and tin germanates. Building on our successful demonstration of phase-pure triclinic Sn5P2O10 (or rather Sn5O2(PO4)2) thin films, the challenge of finding suitable dopants will be taken on following promising theoretical studies on such materials. Thin film fabrication is made by pulsed laser deposition and subsequent analysis includes structural, electrical and optical characterization, considering also the low crystal symmetry of these materials.
