Project Details
Transparent channel with three optically independent axes for observation - Opt-3A-channel
Subject Area
Fluid Mechanics, Technical Thermodynamics and Thermal Energy Engineering
Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 459285942
At the Institute of Mechanics and Fluid Dynamics of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, flows in curved, optically accessible flow geometries shall be investigated as a new research focus. A test rig for investigating such flows is neither available on the market, nor have flows at all been investigated to the extent planned here. Due to the large number of scientific questions, an exchangeable measuring section is necessary. In order to cover a large Reynolds number range, a powerful pump including a bypass is required, as well as a heater to adjust the viscosity accordingly. The refractive index of the test section must be adjusted.Time-resolved, tomographic measurements require the additional purchase of a 3D particle tracking velocimetry system, consisting of LED lighting and cameras, which are not yet available at the IMFD. Additional components are already available on the IMFD.
