Project Details
Live-cell Imaging Super-resolution Microscope System
Subject Area
Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Term
Funded in 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 458673139
Here, we request a super-resolution microscope system based on STED (stimulated emission depletion) technique, which will be mainly used for live-cell STED applications. Therefore, the system should provide STED imaging modalities to reduce the amount of energy of the depletion lasers on the sample, while preserving high optical resolution in x, y and z direction. Since STED is not applicable to plant tissue, the system should provide an alternative option to significantly increase resolution in plant samples. The system will be integrated in the multi-user environment of an imaging core facility. Therefore, the handling of the system should be user-friendly, and the system should offer standard confocal functionality next to the super-resolution options.
