Scour response and scour protection resistance considering seabed-flow-structure interaction processes (A04)

Subject Area Geotechnics, Hydraulic Engineering
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 434502799

Project Description

Subproject A04 aims to further improve the prediction accuracy of scour development and the design of scour protection measures for offshore mega-structures by placing emphasis on the integration of geotechnical, hydrodynamic, and structural dynamic interaction effects in describing scour processes and scour protection behaviour. A04 intends to identify the effects of decreasing subsoil stability caused by pore water pressure gradients on scour formation and to assess the impact of subsoil infiltration on the stability and durability of granular scour protection under wave and current loads. In large-scale demonstrator test, the coupled effect of structural behaviour and scour development will be investigated.
