Project Description

The aim of this project is to elucidate the function of wide-field inhibitory neurons in the neural network of the retina. These neurons play important roles in visual processing, but are difficult to access experimentally. We will combine recordings of retinal output neurons with convolutional network models of the retina to infer characteristics of the inhibitory neurons and to determine optimal visual stimuli for studying their function.
