Project Description

Very Long Baseline Atom Interferometry (VLBAI) with Bose-Einstein Condensates (BECs) raises great potential for high-accuracy absolute gravimetry. With a vertical extension of about 10 m, we target sensitivities competing with those of superconducting gravimeters. In this project, we will demonstrate, for the first time, the operation of a VLBAI gravimeter serving as a gravity reference station, providing the methods for future devices with superior accuracy at geodetic observatories or other locations of special interest.
