The objective of this theory project is to identify the tools to control and stabilize non-trivial spatio-temporal structures of quantum spin chains. This is performed by identifying the essential elements of the dynamical equations of motion of an open system. The open system is the chain of spins, which interact with photons and are embedded in a bulk. Our short-term goal is to design non-trivial dissipative quantum dynamics of the spins which could be experimentally realised by the setups of this CRC-TR. The long term goal is to identify the essential ingredients at the basis of quantum cooperativity in noisy environments.
