For the treatment of large ophthalmic tumours, a novel combined concept comprising brachytherapy and external soft X-ray irradiation is being investigated in the course of a currently ongoing project (number: 455163177). Using measurements and simulations, the basic idea of combining two modalities has been studied and shown to be a promising approach for the treatment of large intraocular tumours. In this follow-up project, the technical implementation, in particular beam shaping and its influence on dose rate, will be assessed and the analysis of simulated dose distributions will be optimised and extended.
