Role of fluctuations in magnetic transport (B02)

Subject Area Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 425217212

Project Description

The goal of project B02 is to understand spin fluctuations in relation to magnonic transport phenomena. In one part of the project, we investigate bulk materials as well as bi- and trilayers of different material classes to quantify magnon currents and accumulations, as well as non-equilibrium magnon spectra and dispersion relation in the linear and non-linear regime. The other part of the project is on the interaction of spin fluctuations with topological spin textures, such as skyrmions, an interaction that leads to Brownian dynamics. Skyrmions follow chiral equations of motion and are perfectly suited to study two-dimensional diffusion and ordering phenomena.
