Project Details
Nanocarrier-based functional analysis of myeloid cells in inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases (C06)
Subject Area
Dermatology
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 431460824
A key feature of cutaneous inflammatory diseases is the infiltration of myeloid cells into the skin. However, the role and crosstalk of subpopulations of myeloid cells, their interaction and the role of ROS stress in myeloid cell biology are largely unknown in the pathogenesis of inflammatory skin disorders. We will combine novel nanocarrier-based approaches with functional and multiscale imaging techniques in mouse models of acute (allergic contact dermatitis) and chronic (systemic sclerosis) cutaneous inflammation to unravel molecular mechanisms of myeloid cell biology and of ROS-mediated processes in inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases.
