Targeting S100A8/S100A9 induced MDSCs in inflammatory disorders (C03)

Subject Area Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Radiobiology
Immunology
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 431460824

Project Description

Immune-regulatory mechanisms limiting immunological responses are promising new therapeutic targets for chronic inflammatory diseases. This project will investigate to what extent the tetrameric form of the alarmin S100A8/S100A9 modulates the regulatory phenotype of MDSCs via CD69 in experimental models of arthritis and inflammatory tumour microenvironment. Multiscale imaging methods will be used to localize and study the interaction of MDSCs, S100A8/S100A9 and activated leukocytes in mouse models of arthritis and tumour xenografts over time and to evaluate the therapeutic potential of modulating the MDSC phenotype in arthritis.
