This project studies the non-linear interaction of photons with different arrangements of quantum emitters (two-level states) in one-dimensional photonic waveguides. Since absorbed photons alter the device seen by subsequently incoming particles of light this leads to effective photon-photon interactions. The goal is to use these mediated interactions between photons ultimately as gates in analog computation architectures. Here, I aim to propose strategies for time-resolved simulation of vibrational excitations in molecules beyond the harmonic mode approximation; either using the cross-Kerr effect to couple transmons in superconducting devices, coupling between photons and transmons via cavities, or an all-optical setup based on the mentioned mediated photon-photon interactions in waveguides.
