Applicant
Professor Dr. Matthias Beller
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 447724917
Within the scope of this project manganese catalysts for the hydrogenation of aromatics and heteroaromatics are to be developed for the first time. Based on the well-defined synthesis of Mn-based coordination polymers and manganese-containing MOF's, new supported Mn nanoparticles and Mn-Single Atom Catalysts (SAC's) will be produced and characterized (WP1). These materials are used in work package 2 (WP2) for the hydrogenation of aromatics and heteroaromatics. After optimization of the model systems and mechanistic studies (WP3), a number of synthetically interesting applications are planned (WP4). As interesting examples, the development of diastereoselective hydrogenations (e.g. thymol) and chemoselective processes using multiple aromatic compounds will be mentioned here.
